Joseph L. Bocchini Jr. was sworn in as Mercer County prosecutor on August 8, 2003. Prior to his appointment, he served as a municipal court judge in Hamilton Township.
Mr. Bocchini’s professional career spans more than 30 years. From 1974 to 1975, he was an assistant Mercer County counsel and also served as municipal prosecutor for East Windsor and Washington townships. Mr. Bocchini represented the 14th District in the state’s General Assembly from 1982 to 1988 and during his tenure from 1985 to 1986, he was chairman of the Assembly Law, Public Safety and Defense Committee. He is also a former assistant counsel for the State Senate Democratic Minority.
Mr. Bocchini is a graduate of Murray State University in Kentucky and the University of Baltimore School of Law. Before beginning his legal career, he taught for two years in the Hamilton Township School District.
Raised in Trenton, Mr. Bocchini moved to Hamilton in 1974 and still resides there today.
