Trenton, NJ — Regarding this afternoon’s meeting between the Mercer County Prosecutor's Office and the attorneys representing the Diocese of Trenton, Prosecutor Daniel G. Giaquinto released the following:
We had a productive initial meeting with a good exchange of information. The matters that have been brought to light that occurred in Mercer County involve eight priests who are either deceased or no longer priests. It appears that the statute of limitations has run on these matters, however we need additional information in order to make that conclusion. We expect to receive this additional information shortly. Due to the ongoing nature of these investigations, our office will not be releasing any names or additional details at this time. All of the documentation regarding these cases must be thoroughly reviewed to determine an exact number of alleged victims.
