EAST WINDSOR MAN ARRESTED FOR STEROIDS

East Windsor, NJ — A 42-year-old man from East Windsor was arrested last night after $20,000 in anabolic steroids was seized from his home, Mercer County Prosecutor Joseph L. Bocchini Jr. announced.

Bocchini stated that his office’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU), under the command of Lt. Bill Straniero, arrested JAMES NEWMEYER, 42, of Gardenview Terrace, East Windsor, as he arrived at his residence last night at approximately 8:15 p.m.

Members of the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office, the East Windsor Township Police Department, the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office and the East Brunswick Police Department assisted in the arrest.

Officers subsequently executed a search warrant at Newmeyer’s Gardenview Terrace residence and seized approximately $20,000 worth of anabolic steroids.  Large containers of liquid injectable steroids, including testosterone, propionate, enanthate, Sustanon 250, Deca-Durabolin and Durabolin, were located in a kitchen cabinet.  In a closet off of the living room, officers found large jars of Clomid and Dianabol pills, and Anavar pills were seized from Newmeyer’s bedroom.

The six-week investigation initiated by the SIU revealed that Newmeyer was purchasing large quantities of various steroids from China over the Internet.  He would repackage the steroids into smaller portions for sale.  Glass vials and hundreds of syringes were also found throughout Newmeyer’s home.

Newmeyer is charged with multiple counts of narcotic possession and possession with the intent to distribute.  He was released on his own recognizance.

Despite having been charged, every defendant is presumed innocent until found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
