EAST
WINDSOR SCHOOL DISTRICT OFFICIAL ARRESTED
EAST WINDSOR
— Mercer County Prosecutor Joseph L. Bocchini Jr. today announced the arrest
of the director of technology and instruction for the East Windsor Regional
School District for official misconduct.
Robert
Parker, 59, of Georgetown Road, Yardville, was arrested and
charged with 12 counts of official misconduct.
The complaints allege that Parker, under the guise of his office, sold
computers belonging to the school district and kept the money as his own.
The Mercer County Prosecutor's Office began its investigation into
Parker’s misdeeds approximately a month ago at the request of David Shafter,
East Windsor Regional School business administrator.
Chief School Administrator Ronald Bolandi stated that Parker, a 29-year
district employee, has been suspended from his duties as a result of the
charges.
Prosecutor
Bocchini commended the East Windsor Regional School District for taking action
and asking for law enforcement’s assistance.
“Abuse
of the public’s trust is a serious allegation, more so because Mr. Parker
should be a role model to his students,” Bocchini stated.
“The school district’s quick action and cooperation with the
investigation is appreciated and I am glad we were able to assist.”
Parker
was released on his own recognizance.
Despite having been charged, every defendant is presumed innocent until found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
