TASK FORCE NABS FUGITIVE

 

A Plainsboro man was arrested without incident this morning following an investigation by the Central Jersey Fugitive Task Force, announced Mercer County Prosecutor Daniel G. Giaquinto.

 

David Martin (DOB 5/14/52), of Quail Ridge Road in Plainsboro, was arrested at his home at approximately 6:45 this morning at by Detectives Corey S. Kammler II and Gary Wasko of the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office and Deputy U.S. Marshals Tim Hein and Terry Merrigan, Giaquinto said.  The officers are also members of the Central Jersey Fugitive Task Force.

 

The Plainsboro Police Department aided in the arrest.

 

“The task force did an outstanding job locating this fugitive and placing him in custody,” continued Giaquinto.

 

Martin faces two counts of aggravated sexual assault and three counts of sexual assault.  If convicted, he could be sentenced to a maximum of 20 years in prison.

 

The 26-year old female victim recently came forward to file a complaint detailing multiple incidents over a year period covering 1983 through 1984. 

 

Martin was indicted on the aforementioned charges on October 6.  Assistant Prosecutor Robin Scheiner presented the case to a Mercer County grand jury.

 

An arrest warrant was issued on November 17 when Martin failed to appear for a prearraignment interview.  The Central Jersey Fugitive Task Force was able to determine Martin’s whereabouts through an investigation and various databases.  

 

The Central Jersey Fugitive Task Force targets violent and drug-related fugitives wanted on state and federal warrants.  It is lead by U.S. Marshal Glenn D. Cunningham and Mercer County Prosecutor Daniel G. Giaquinto and comprised of members of the Trenton District of the U.S. Marshals Service, officers of the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office, the New Jersey State Police and the Trenton Police Department. 

Martin was processed by the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office and is currently being held at the Mercer County Detention Center pending a hearing before Superior Court Judge Charles A. Delehey at 1:30 p.m. today.
