PROSECUTOR SEEKS WAIVER 

TRENTON — Mercer County Prosecutor Joseph L. Bocchini Jr. today announced that his office has filed a notice of motion seeking court approval to try the 16-year old defendant arrested in the January 21 home invasion in Ewing Township as an adult.  

The Ewing Township juvenile was arrested on January 24, 2007, and charged with robbery, kidnapping, aggravated sexual assault, burglary, aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and kidnapping.  

 “We are asking the court to allow us to try this defendant as an adult,” Bocchini stated, adding that the seriousness of the charges coupled with the brutal nature of the incident justifies the request. 

A hearing date will be set by the Superior Court, Family Part.  The juvenile remains in the Mercer County Youth Detention Center and the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
