EWING TOWNSHIP SCHOOL TEACHER ARRESTED

EWING -- A physical education teacher at Ewing High School was arrested this afternoon and charged with having a sexual relationship with a student, Mercer County Prosecutor Joseph L. Bocchini Jr. announced. 

Robert Godfrey, 23, of Lower State Road, North Wales, Pennsylvania, was charged this afternoon at the Ewing Township Police Department with two counts of sexual assault (second degree), one count of distributing obscene materials to a minor (third degree) and one count of child abuse (fourth degree). 

Godfrey is accused of having a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old female student since December 2007.  He is also accused of sending nude images of himself to the victim and receiving nude pictures of the victim via cell phone. 

Mercer County Superior Court Judge Charles A. Delehey set bail in the amount of $25,000 cash or bond.

The arrest is the result of a joint investigation conducted by the Ewing Township Police Department and the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Child Abuse/Sex Assault Unit.

Despite having been charged, every defendant is presumed innocent until found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
