SPECIAL INVESTIGATIONS UNIT NABS “SLEEPER”

280 Grams of Cocaine; 78 Grams of Crack; Sawed-off Shotgun Seized 

 

Trenton, NJ—Mercer County Prosecutor Joseph L. Bocchini, Jr., today announced that his office’s Special Investigations Unit, under he command of Lt. Bill Straniero, seized 280 grams of powder cocaine, 78 grams of crack-cocaine, marijuana, a sawed-off shotgun and $3,200 in cash from a residence in the 100 block of Rosemont Avenue. 

            According to Prosecutor Bocchini, the Special Investigations Unit received numerous citizens’ complaint concerning the open-air drug dealing on Rosemont Avenue.  After a four-week investigation, the Special Investigations unit was able to obtain search warrants for Aaron Lee Lowe, a/k/a Robert Lowe, age 31, of the 100 block of Rosemont Avenue and his Rosemont Avenue home.   Lowe has been described as a “sleeper” in the drug trade in that he was not readily known to law enforcement officers.   

            Bocchini indicated that the street value of the seized drugs was $11,500. 

            Lowe has been charged with possession of c.d.s.(3rd degree); possession of c.d.s. with the intent to distribute (1st degree); possession of c.d.s. within 1000 feet of a school (3rd degree); and, possession of a weapon while committing a c.d.s. offense (2nd degree).  Lowe is eligible for an extended term of incarceration and faces life in prison if convicted. 

            The Trenton Narcotics Enforcement Bureau, Princeton Township Police and Mercer County Sheriff’s Department assisted in the investigation. 

            Lowe is being held at the Mercer County Corrections Center in lieu of $250,000 cash bail set by Judge Maria Sypek. 

            Despite having been charged with a crime, all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
