Trenton,
NJ — A Trenton man wanted since 1988 for shooting a man in the back was
recently taken into custody by the Central Jersey Fugitive Task Force (CJFTF),
Mercer County Prosecutor Daniel G. Giaquinto and
U.S. Marshal Charles L. McNeal announced.
Dock
Samuel Minor AKA Dick Minor, 68, whose last known Trenton address is the 200
block of Spring Street, was arrested Wednesday afternoon at a residence on
Rodman Avenue in Philadelphia by members of the task force.
Approximately six months ago, the task force targeted Minor as a serious
fugitive and began to actively search for him.
Deputy U.S. Marshal Rick Cope and Detective Joseph Angarone of the Mercer
County Prosecutor’s Office led the investigation and, through relentless
police work, managed to track his whereabouts from Darby, Pennsylvania to
Wilmington, Delaware to his current location on Rodman Avenue in Philadelphia,
where it was determined he moved to in March of this year.
The
task force, with the assistance of Deputy U.S. Marshal Bill David of the
Wilmington, Delaware District of the U.S. Marshals Service, set up surveillance
on Wednesday and observed Minor enter the residence around
3:30 p.m. They proceeded to take
the suspect into custody without incident.
Minor
waived extradition in Philadelphia and was transported by the task force to the
Mercer County Corrections Center Wednesday evening, where he awaits a hearing
before a Superior Court judge.
Minor
is wanted for the March 1988 shooting of Bryant K. Parker.
According to police reports, on March 2, 1988 at approximately 3:40 a.m.,
Trenton police officers responded to Spring Street on a report of a man shot.
The victim was transported to Mercer Medical Center, where he was found
to be shot in the back. Police
officials stated that Minor shot Parker during a dispute over narcotics.
A warrant was issued that day for Minor’s arrest, however he was never
apprehended.
On
January 24, 1989, a Mercer County grand jury indicted Minor on three counts of
aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon
for an unlawful purpose. Superior
Court Judge Charles A. Delehey issued a bench warrant for Minor on March 31,
1989.
