Trenton-- Mercer County Prosecutor Daniel G. Giaquinto
announced today John M. Jingoli, Jr. has been hired as his office’s first
full-time municipal court specialist.
In announcing the new program, Prosecutor Giaquinto indicated that the
Municipal Prosecutors’ Act places significant supervisory responsibility on
the county prosecutors to oversee the municipal prosecutors in their county.
Until now, the supervision and support of municipal prosecutors was
handled on a part-time basis by an Assistant Prosecutor.
“The significance of this program is that, for the first time, we will
have an Assistant Prosecutor with significant municipal court experience work
full-time on supporting municipal prosecutors”, Giaquinto said.
Mr. Jingoli has over 25 years of legal experience and had an extensive
municipal court practice. Mr.
Jingoli also served as the municipal prosecutor in Ewing Township for over a
decade.
Prosecutor Giaquinto indicated that Mr. Jingoli will be the liaison
between the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office and the 13 municipal courts in
Mercer County. “In his new role
with the office, Mr. Jingoli will provide technical assistance to the municipal
prosecutors, handle all municipal court appeals and undertake special projects
affecting the municipal courts”, Giaquinto said.
One of the special projects will be to implement a chronic offender
program in the municipal courts as part of the overall crime reduction strategy
of the Mercer County Prosecutor's Office. “This
program realizes that the majority of prosecution in any county occurs in the
municipal courts. The success of
the municipal prosecutors is crucial to the overall county prosecutorial
strategy and crime reduction”, Giaquinto stated.
This program has received the full endorsement of the Mercer County
Chiefs of Police Association.
Mr. Jingoli started with the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office on June 3, 2002.
