SEAN MOBLEY INDICTED

A city man who was shot in the leg by a Pennsylvania state trooper was indicted today by a Mercer County grand jury, Prosecutor Joseph L. Bocchini Jr. announced.

Sean Mobley, 21, of South Olden Avenue, Trenton, was indicted on one count of second-degree eluding and one count of third-degree unlawful possession of a weapon.

Mobley was arrested on January 23, 2007, and charged with eluding following a motor vehicle pursuit and crash that started in Bucks County, Pa.  Just before 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 23, two Pennsylvania state troopers pursuing a Cadillac crossed over the Calhoun Street Bridge into Trenton.  The Cadillac crashed into a parked vehicle at the corner of Arch and Cass streets and the Pennsylvania troop car crashed into the back of the Cadillac.  The driver of the Cadillac and the troopers exited their respective vehicles at which point the shooting occurred.

The suspect, later identified as Mobley, was shot once in the leg.  He was transported to Capital Health System, Fuld Campus, where he was treated and released into police custody.

The grand jury took no action against the Pennsylvania state troopers.

Assistant Prosecutor Tom Meidt presented the case to the grand jury.

Despite having been indicted, every defendant is presumed innocent until found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
