SECOND SUSPECT
CHARGED
IN CONNECTION TO AMY GIORDANO’S MURDER
Mercer County Prosecutor Joseph L. Bocchini Jr. today confirmed that a complaint has been signed charging a second actor in connection to the murder of Amy Giordano on June 7, 2007, in Hightstown.
The individual, identified as John A. Russo Jr., 43, of Moffett Street, Staten Island, NY, is charged with one count of fourth-degree tampering with evidence.
At this time, Russo has been advised of the charge against him but has not been formally served with the complaint. Detectives involved with the investigation were in contact with Russo this morning and expect to formally serve him in the next few days.
The criminal complaint was signed on March 20, 2007, by Mercer County Superior Court Judge Charles A. Delehey. Bail was set in the amount of $5,000. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of 18 months in prison.
Due to the ongoing nature of the investigation, additional details can not be released at this time.
Despite having been charged, every defendant is presumed innocent until found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
