TERRENCE BREWER INDICTED FOR ESCAPE

Trenton, NJ — A Mercer County grand jury indicted Terrence Brewer today on a single-count of escape, Mercer County Prosecutor Daniel G. Giaquinto announced.

Brewer (DOB 6/4/63) escaped from the Mercer County Correction Center in Hopewell Township on August 30, 2001, while awaiting sentencing on a June 2001 murder conviction.

Brewer remained on the lam until September 5 when he surrendered to Trenton police in front of the The Times building on Perry Street.  He is currently in New Jersey State Prison serving a sentence of 102 plus years without the possibility of parole.

Consistent with his announcement on October 23, 2001, Prosecutor Giaquinto reiterated that it is not anticipated that there will be any further criminal charges arising out of the escape episode.

Assistant Prosecutor Kimm Lacken presented the case to the grand jury.
