Trenton,
NJ — A Trenton man who allegedly robbed three city convenience stores while
wearing a Richard Nixon mask was indicted today by a Mercer County grand jury,
Prosecutor Joseph L. Bocchini Jr. announced.
Corey
Morris (DOB 9/15/76), of the first block of Marion Street, was indicted on three
counts of first-degree robbery, four counts of possession of a weapon for an
unlawful purpose, and one count each of aggravated assault, aggravated arson,
possession of a destructive device, theft by unlawful taking, criminal mischief,
eluding police, unlawful possession of a weapon, resisting arrest and hindering.
If convicted, he could be sentenced to more than 85 years in prison,
Bocchini said.
According
to police reports, Morris used a pump action bb rifle shotgun and wore a Richard
Nixon mask in robbing the Paketeria Food Market, Reyes Supermarket and Frazier
Quick Stop Deli over the weekend of June 6, 2003.
During the robbery of the Frazier deli, he also allegedly used a Molotov
cocktail. Morris was arrested by
Trenton police on June 9 while driving a stolen sport utility vehicle.
Assistant
Prosecutor Randolph Norris, chief of the Chronic Offender Unit, presented the
case to the grand jury.
Morris
and co-defendant Glenn Tiggett (DOB 1/1/63), of the 200 block of Ardmore Avenue,
were also indicted
today
on charges relating to a May 7, 2003, robbery, a May 31, 2003, robbery and an
April 22, 2003, burglary.
Morris
is scheduled to be sentenced in December for a July 2002 robbery.
Tiggett is being held in the Mercer County Correction Center in lieu of
$250,000 bail.
Despite having been indicted, every defendant is presumed innocent until found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
