SIU INVESTIGATION YIELDS $70,000 IN COCAINE
IN WEST WINDSOR
WEST WINDSOR – Mercer County Prosecutor Joseph L. Bocchini Jr. announced today that a month-long investigation led by his Special Investigations Unit (SIU), under the command of Lt. Robert Dispoto, concluded Thursday with one arrest and the seizure of $70,000 in crack and powder cocaine and almost $6,000 in cash.
According to Bocchini, the investigation into cocaine distribution from within the Extended Stay America Hotel on Route 1 North in West Windsor Township by Antonio Thompson, age 37, resulted in Thompson’s arrest on Thursday.
SIU detectives along with members of the West Windsor Township Police Department, the Hamilton Township Police Department, the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office and the state Division of Criminal Justice took Thompson into custody just before noon in the lobby of the hotel.
Inside the room, officers located approximately 274 grams of crack cocaine, 426 grams of powder cocaine, a digital scale and $5,952 in cash. A 2003 Lincoln Navigator that Thompson was using was also seized.
In total, the seized cocaine has an approximate street value of $70,000.
Thompson was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession with the intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia. He is being held at the Mercer County Correction Center in lieu of $250,000 bail.
Despite having been charged, every defendant is presumed innocent until found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
