CITY FUGITIVE NABBED WITH DRUGS

 

Trenton, NJ — A city man wanted on drug charges was arrested this morning by members of the New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force, Mercer County Joseph L. Bocchini Jr. announced today.

 

Task force members arrested Angel Gonzalez (DOB 3/29/81), of the 800 block of South Broad Street, at 6:30 this morning on Houghton Avenue in Trenton.  Gonzalez, who was hiding under the bed covers, was arrested without incident.  Task force members also seized 11 small baggies of powder cocaine, eight small Ziploc bags of marijuana, 10 ecstasy pills, a digital scale and $280 in cash.  Gonzalez now faces additional charges of possession of CDS, possession of CDS with the intent to distribute, possession with the intent to distribute with 1000 feet of Wilson School and possession with the intent to distribute within 500 feet of George Page Park.

 

Mercer County Superior Court Judge Paul T. Koenig issued a bench warrant for Gonzalez on July 21, 2003, after he failed to appear for a pre-arraignment conference.

 

Officers from the prosecutor’s office, the U.S. Marshals Service, the state Department of Corrections, and the Mercer and Monmouth County Sheriff’s Offices arrested Gonzalez, who is currently being held in the Mercer County Correction Center.

 

Despite having been charged, every defendant is presumed innocent until found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
